We believe generosity is bigger than the gift.
I’ve always wondered why we measure generosity almost entirely by how much someone gives.
Someone donates $1,000. Someone else gives $20, tells ten friends about the cause, and inspires them to give too.
Who contributed more?
The truth is, we may never know.
And that’s what got me thinking.
Behind every donation is a story. Someone cared enough to give. Someone believed enough to ask. Someone inspired someone else to act.
Yet most fundraising technology captures the transaction and misses the relationships that made it possible.
We’ve become very good at counting gifts, but not nearly as good at understanding generosity.
I started Coterie because I believe that needs to change.
We’re building the intelligence and technology infrastructure that helps fundraising platforms understand giving beyond the transaction, recognize the relationships that matter, and help organizations act on what they learn.
Because when we understand how generosity moves, we can help it go further.
I believe the future of fundraising belongs to those who understand people, not just payments.
And that’s the future we’re building.
