Coterie provides tools for organizations to manage communities, run campaigns, and accept donations or payments through integrated payment partners. Individuals may use the Platform to join communities, support campaigns, and participate in activities.

Coterie is a software platform and does not act as a bank, money services business, or trustee for user funds.
Payments are processed by third-party payment providers (for example, Stripe). When you donate or pay through Coterie, you may also be subject to the payment provider’s terms.
Coterie does not control payment provider decisions, including chargebacks, refunds, identity verification, payout timing, or account holds.

If a tax receipt is applicable, the organization (not Coterie) is responsible for issuing the official donation receipt and ensuring compliance with Canada Revenue Agency requirements. Coterie may store and display receipts provided by organizations.
6) User content and community conduct
You may be able to post content, upload materials, or participate in communities (“User Content”). You are responsible for your User Content and must not upload or share content that is illegal, misleading, infringing, or harmful.
Coterie may remove content or restrict accounts that violate these Terms or create risk for users or the Platform.
7) Intellectual property
Coterie and its licensors own the Platform and all related intellectual property, excluding User Content. You may not copy, reverse engineer, or misuse the Platform.

We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created risk, or required action for safety or compliance. You may stop using the Platform at any time.
10) Disclaimers
The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available.” Coterie does not guarantee uninterrupted service, error-free operation, or outcomes from campaigns, fundraising, or community participation.
11) Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Coterie will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill.
12) Changes to the Platform or Terms
We may update the Platform and these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to provide notice.
13) Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of {{province}} and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
